Throughout January, I've been working on mostly greeting card/ poster designs with floral motives, hand lettering and pastel color palettes (all pretty much my favorite themes to work on). The projects are being test printed this and next week; I can't wait to share the final results in Feb! Yay!
Today however, I felt like I need to double check with myself whether I am still able to draw faces. I've devoted the whole year 2013 to drawing portraits only (which was definitely not a strength of mine before that) and kind of left them out again in 2014, returning to what I do best - flower patterns.
Without thinking of a final piece or any goal, I sketched these two ladies today morning (overall time roughly 3 hours - time FLIES when I draw!) and I must say, I am quite happy.
I'll not be working on these ladies anymore as I'm jumping on a bus to Prague in a couple of hours to celebrate my and my siblings' birthdays this week, but all in all, I think these ladies served their purpose already :)
Have a fab week and see you on Facebook/ Instagram/ here next week. Ciao!

As a small thank you (yes, YOU my friends) for your continuous support, lovely comments and for visiting my blog, I've made circular 'thank you' cards for you. If you click on this link, the file will automatically start downloading in your browser.
The two cards are on an A4 sheet of paper, which you can easily print out and then cut out the cards. They are 8cm wide, one is mint, the other is rosé.
I recommend you to print them on a 200 g/m2 paper (which is about two times thicker than the regular office paper).
Feel free to print them out as many times as you wish, punch a hole in them, gift to a friend, use it as a gift tag or simply keep for yourself.

A sweet start
Even before I moved in and started thinking of furniture positioning,
I already knew I'll have to have LED lights around :)
Inspiration literature & paper samples
Finally I have a space where I can have my framed work around! Yay!
Pretty things are in the works!
The first week in my new studio has gone by.
Actually, Wednesday was my first day, so it's been 3 days. Today, the studio feels more cozy, a little more 'me'. It's not yet perfect, but it's getting there.
My corner is a part of a larger workspace, where other freelancing artists work. We've got furniture makers here, an oil painter, someone that works with leather, in total about 10 people. I've only met about one or two of my studio mates and hope to meet others soon.
The overall space has a lofty, a little rough and messy, yet very cozy atmosphere. The owners (super lovely people) do all sorts of workshops and events for creatives, one which I've been to already: nude models drawing. Another one is in a couple of days, woohoo!
I've started two print projects this week and found a local, great quality print house and I truly cannot wait to show you what I'm working on, soon. Once I have all organizational bits and bobs ready, products printed and an online shop opened, I'll definitely let you know.

We've spent the New Year's Eve at Chris' parents' home, which is just a 15 min drive from Graz.
Graz is a really pretty city, roughly a 2 hour drive south from Vienna. It is compact, pretty and it's surrounded by nature. Within a 30 min driving distance are mountains perfect for trekking, gorgeous lakes and forests. I feel great here.
Today morning we went for a walk into the city, which was unusually empty, most probably because of last night's celebrations, but maybe because of the weather too. It's freezing cold and the streets are slippery from ice. It was worth the frozen fingers though :)
I hope you are having a really nice start to the year too, exactly as you have imagined.
